macOS (HowTo) - Downloading Canon printer drivers on a personal Mac

This article will provide steps to manually download the Canon drivers for the model printer that you are attempting to connect to.

When manually mapping a leased networked Canon printer on a personal device, the correct print driver may be outdated or not installed. This article will provide steps to download the Canon drivers for the model printer that you are attempting to connect to.

  1. Navigate to (https://usa.canon.com/support)

  2. In the search box enter the Canon printer model, the search will attempt to auto-complete (i.e., 1538C).

  3. After selecting the correct model, proceed to the Downloads tab/section.

  4. Select the version of macOS you’re running from the drop-down menu. If running macOS 15, you will need to still use v15.

  5. Select the UFR II (recommended) driver.

  6. After downloading, double-click the .DMG, and install the driver .pkg. 
    Mount downloaded driver .dmg

    Install driver .pkg

  7. Proceed to manually map the leased Canon printer, hosted on the Uniflow print server.
