Web Browsers - How to hard reload a web page

If a web page is not fully loaded, or an error message is shown, using a hard reload can sometimes fix the issue. A hard reload forces the re-downloading of information needed for the page as if your browser's cache was cleared.

Windows and MacOS Computers

The way to hard reload a web page differs from browser to browser.

  • Google Chrome for Windows and Microsoft Edge:
Hold CTRL and click the Reload button
  • Mozilla Firefox for Windows:
    Press CTRL + F5
  • Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, and Microsoft Edge for Mac:
Hold SHIFT and click the Reload or Refresh button

Mobile Devices

Unlike computers, there is no way to hard refresh a web page on mobile browsers. You must manually clear the browser cache.
